Gardaí attended the scene of a road traffic collision that occurred on the N2 at Drumgeeny, Co. Monaghan on Wednesday, 26th October 2022.
The collision involved a vehicle and a pedestrian and occurred at approximately 6:55pm.
The male pedestrian (aged 90s) was taken to Cavan General Hospital for treatment of serious injuries and has since been transferred to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where he is in a critical condition.
The N2 road remains closed in Drumgeeny and a technical examination is being conducted by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N2 at Drumgeeny between 6:30pm and 7:15pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
