Two Persons Arrested As Part of Ongoing GNPSB Operation Targeting Organised Crime, Human Trafficking, Organised Prostitution and Money Laundering 15/6/22

Gardaí from the Human Trafficking Investigation and Coordination Unit (HTICU) at the Garda National Protective Services Bureau (GNPSB) carried out an operation in Letterkenny on Monday, 13th June, 2022, in relation to an ongoing investigation into organised crime, human trafficking, organised prostitution, and money laundering.

A male in his 40s arrested under organised crime legislation has appeared before Falcarragh District Court (sitting in Letterkenny) this morning, 15th June 2022, charged with an offence under the Illegal Immigrants (Trafficking) Act 2000. A further arrest took place this morning, 15th June 2022, and that individual remains in Garda Custody at this time under the same legislation.

The Garda National Protective Services Bureau is committed to supporting victims of all crime and is calling on anyone who has been the victim of Human Trafficking to contact the Garda National Protective Services Bureau, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station, where they will be treated with the utmost sensitivity.

As part of the ongoing investigation into Human Trafficking, Organised Prostitution and Money Laundering, Gardaí attached to the Human Trafficking Investigation and Coordination Unit (HTICU) at the Garda National Protective Services Bureau (GNPSB) with the assistance of Gardaí from the Western Region have this morning conducted a number of searches in Roscommon, Longford and Donegal, 28th June 2021.

Two females aged in their 40s and 30s, have been arrested and detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 on suspicion of Organised Crime Offences. The detention means they can be held for a period of 7 days. They are being detained at a North Dublin Garda station.

The Garda National Protective Services Bureau would call on any persons who have been the victim of Human Trafficking to contact the Garda National Protective Services Bureau, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station, where they will be treated with the upmost confidentiality and sensitivity.

Both women, aged in their 40s and 30s, will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice, Dublin, Court 2, at 10:30am on Saturday, 3rd July, 2021.
