Witness Appeal - Hit and Run Road Traffic Collision - Furbo, Co. Galway, 24th October 2021

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious hit and run road traffic collision that occurred on the R336 Road between Furbo and Spiddal, Co. Galway on Sunday, 24th October 2021.

The collision occurred at approximately 8:30pm when a car collided with a male pedestrian near the Furbo Church. The pedestrian, a man aged in his 40s, was taken to NUIG Hospital Galway to be treated for serious injuries.

The driver of the car failed to remain at the scene.

The road is currently closed with diversions in place while Forensic Collision Investigators conduct an examination of the scene.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Gardaí are also appealing to any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R336 between Furbo and Spiddal Sunday night, between 8:00pm and 9:00pm, to make this footage available to Gardaí.
