17 Persons Arrested, GNIB Led Multi-Agency Operation, Dublin City, 4th November 2021

The Garda National Immigration Bureau led a multi-agency search operation of a number of business premises in Dublin City Centre, Thursday, 4th November 2021. 

The search operation included Garda Officers from GNIB, Gardaí from Mountjoy Garda station and representatives  from the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC), the Department of Social Protection (DSP) and Revenue officials.

The searches were as a result of investigations into fraudulent Covid-19 Social Welfare activity.  Five business premises were searched with the aim of disrupting, eliminating and prosecuting this fraudulent activity.

During the course of these searches 17 people (9 men and 8 women), ranged in age from 20s to 60s were arrested for Immigration offences.

Sixteen of the persons arrested have been charged and bailed to appear before District Court 3,  Criminal Courts of Justice on the 18th November 2021.

One man ages in his 50s remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before Dublin District Court this morning 5th November 2021 in relation to an outstanding bench warrant.
