Media Blackout Lifted - Incident Ballygunner, Co. Waterford, 23rd March 2021

This incident has now been resolved.

Gardaí received a call raising concern for the welfare of a man, aged in his 60s, who had left his place of residence allegedly armed with a blunt instrument in the Ballygunner area of Waterford at approximately 11.40am on 23/03/2021.

A Garda search operation was undertaken and the man has since been located and detained under the Mental Health Act. No injuries were sustained as a result of this incident.

Gardaí would like to thank the media for their cooperation during the Media Blackout.
