Appeal for witnesses following Fatal road traffic collision on the M6, Co Galway August 12, 2021

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred shortly before 1pm on Thursday, 12th August, 2021, at the intersection of the M6 and M17 in County Galway.

Three cars travelling on the Eastbound lane of the M6 were involved in a collision.

A man in his 80s, the driver of one of these vehicles, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Three women, a passenger in the first car and the drivers of the other two cars, were taken to Galway University Hospital for treatment.

Two women remain in hospital today, Friday August 13, 2021.

Gardaí investigating this three car collision are appealing to anyone who may have been travelling on the East or Westbound lanes of the M6 between 12.40pm and 1pm on Thursday August 12 and who may have witnessed this collision to make contact with them. 

In particular Gardaí are appealing to any road users who were on the road during this period who may have video footage (including dash-cam footage) to make this footage available to Gardaí.
