Update - Man Charged - Fatal Assault of a Man in his 40s, Enniscorthy, County Wexford, Friday 1st May 2020

Following direction from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, a male in his 40s has been charged in relation to the fatal assault of man in his 40s that occurred on Friday 1st May 2020 in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. He is due to appear before Gorey District Court this afternoon, Wednesday 2nd September 2020.

Gardaí are investigating a fatal assault that occurred at approximately 12.30am on Friday 1st May 2020 at a residence at Enniscorthy, County Wexford.

A number of Garda units attended the scene and a man in his early 40s was discovered with apparent stab wounds. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A man in his early 40s was arrested a short distance away and he is currently detained at Wexford Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The scene is currently preserved pending a full technical examination. The Office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
