UPDATE - Assault Incident - Seville Place Dublin - Wednesday 2nd September 2020

A man in his 40s seriously injured in an incident at Seville Place, Dublin 1 in the early hours of Wednesday 2nd September, 2020 has died in hospital.

The man had sustained serious head injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Mater Hospital where he was pronounced dead this morning (12/9/2020).

His body was removed to the Dublin City Morgue where a post-mortem examination was carried out this afternoon by Dr Heidi Okkers, Office of the State Pathologist.

Preliminary results of the post-mortem have been furnished to Gardaí details of which cannot be released for operational reasons.

An investigation into the incident and all of the circumstances surrounding the death of the man is continuing. No arrests have been made in the case to date but Gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry.

Investigating Gardaí are renewing their appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward. They are also appealing to any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area at the time to make it available to them.

Gardaí are investigating an assault that occurred at approximately 2:50am on Wednesday 2nd September 2020 at Seville Place, Dublin 1.

A male in his 40s received serious head injuries during the assault and was removed to the Mater hospital where his condition is described as critical.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident and for any persons with information to come forward. Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling the area at the time to make this available to Gardaí.
