Garda Commissioner announces appointment of Chief Bureau Officer, Criminal Assets Bureau and other Senior Allocations

The Garda Commissioner has appointed Detective Chief Superintendent Michael Gubbins as Chief Bureau Officer, Criminal Assets Bureau with immediate effect and has informed the Minister for Justice and Equality of the appointment.

The appointment of Detective Chief Superintendent Gubbins arises from the promotion of Acting Assistant Commissioner Patrick Clavin.  Speaking today Garda Commissioner Drew Harris thanked Acting Assistant Commissioner Clavin for his dedicated service and leadership of the Criminal Assets Bureau since his appointment as Chief Bureau Officer in 2016.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Clavin will assume responsibility, from the 2nd June 2020, for An Garda Síochána Governance and Accountability which includes sections such as Anti-Corruption Unit, Internal Affairs and Risk Management.

Assistant Commissioner Orla McPartlin has been assigned responsibility, on transfer, for Garda National Crime & Security Intelligence Service, since the 1st April 2020.  Assistant Commissioner McPartlin temporarily retained responsibility for Garda Community Relations Bureau.

From May 5 2020, responsibility for the Garda Community Relations Bureau has been assigned to Assistant Commissioner Paula Hilman. Assistant Commissioner Hilman was appointed to An Garda Síochána by the Policing Authority and joined the organisation on retirement from the PSNI.

Superintendent Stephen McCauley, on promotion from the Police Service of Northern Ireland, has been assigned responsibility for Garda Crime Legal Section, from 02 May 2020.
