The 26-year-old man was arrested by investigating Gardaí this morning (5/6/2020) and charged in relation to the assault on the Garda member. He is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice, Court 4, at 10:30am.
He is the second person to be charged in connection with this case. At 24-year-old man is currently charged before the courts.

Gardaí in Kilmainham were called to an assault on St. Vincent's Street West, Inchicore in the early hours of this morning, Monday 30th March, 2020.
At approximately 2.30a.m. Gardaí attended the scene of a man (25 years) stabbed and while the injured party was lying on the ground, the suspect (24 years) tried to assault the man again. A Garda member intervened and received a laceration to his head. The injured party and the Garda were both taken to St. James Hospital for treatment. The injured party remains in hospital at this time and the Garda member has since been released.
A man (24 years) was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 4, of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Kilmainham Garda Station.

The 24 year old man arrested, to date, in this investigation has been charged in relation to the assault on the Garda member. He is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice, Court 4, today 31/03/2020, at 10:30am.
