The Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) conducted a search operation this morning, Wednesday 29th January 2020. Three searches were conducted at locations in Co. Cork and one search was conducted at a location in Co. Kerry.
The Criminal Assets Bureau were assisted by local Detective Units along with the Garda Dog Unit. The target of the searches is a man, aged in his 50s, who was previously investigated by CAB in 2011, and who was convicted of money laundering following an investigation then by local Gardaí.
The following items of note were seized :
A 161 registered Mercedes Benz car
A 182 registered Audi TT
A Rolex watch
An Omega watch
A Mont Blanc watch
€1,400 in cash
A number of phones and electronic devices
Records relating to cryptocurrency purchase
This morning’s search operation is a significant development in an ongoing Criminal Assets Bureau investigation. In addition to this morning’s search CAB will consider using its Revenue tax powers in respect of any liability that may arise.
