Court Apperance - Robbery & Arrest Castletymon, Tallaght - 20th January 2020

A male in his 40s arrested following a robbery at a premises in Castletymon Shopping Centre yesterday, Monday 20th January 2020 has been charged. He is due to appear before Tallaght District court this morning, Tuesday 21st January 2020 at 10:30am.

A man in his early 40s has been arrested by Gardaí following a robbery at a premises in Castletymon Shopping Centre.

Shortly after 6p.m. this evening, Monday 20th January, 2020 a man armed with a knife entered a shop and threatened staff before leaving on foot with a sum of money.  Gardaí from the Tallaght district drugs unit were patrolling the area and tackled the man to the ground.  The man threatened Gardaí with his knife but was arrested at the scene. The sum of cash stolen was also recovered.

The suspect is currently detained under Section 4, Criminal Justice Act, 1984 for questioning at Tallaght Garda station.

No persons were injured during the incident and investigations are ongoing.
