Arrest re Attempted Theft of a Vehicle, Finglas, Dublin 11, 18th February 2020

Gardaí in Finglas assisted by Community Policing, the District Detective Unit and K-District Community Action Team have arrested a male, aged in his 20s, for the attempted theft of a vehicle on Tuesday, 18th February 2020.

At approximately 5.45pm on Tuesday, 18th February 2020, a man, aged in his 20s, attempted to steal a car which was parked outside a domestic residence in the Finglas area. The driver of the car, a female aged in her 20s, was threatened and forcibly removed from the vehicle.

An altercation occurred between the suspect and a number of individuals who arrived at the scene to assist the female. The suspect was removed from the vehicle and he subsequently fled the scene on foot.

A number of Garda units attended the scene and the suspect’s movements were tracked to a retail premises in Charlestown. He was arrested by Gardaí and taken to Blanchardstown Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
