Operation Tara - €441,000 Drugs Seized and Two Arrests, Clonsilla, Dublin 15 1st August 2020

As part of Operation Tara, Gardaí attached to the Dublin Metropolitan Region West Divisional Drugs Unit have seized €441,000 worth of controlled drugs and arrested two men, following a search operation in Clonsilla, Dublin 15 yesterday evening, Saturday 1st August, 2020.

At approximately 7.30pm, Gardaí conducted the search under warrant at a house in a residential estate. During the course of the operation, suspected cocaine with an estimated value of €171,000 and suspected cannabis herb with an estimated value of €270,000 were seized. The drugs will now be sent for analysis.

Cash to the value of €19,140 was also seized during the course of the operation, as well as two Rolex watches and various drug paraphernalia.

Two men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were arrested at the scene and taken to Blanchardstown Garda Station where they are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

Speaking today about the search operation and seizure, Chief Superintendent Finbarr Murphy said, "This is an excellent detection by the newly-formed Divisional Drugs Unit, and has disrupted the supply of cocaine and cannabis herb in the Blanchardstown area.

"We will continue to aggressively tackle those involved in the sale and supply of drugs in order to make our community safer for everybody in the area.”
