Investigation into Event, Co. Galway 19th August, 2020.

An Garda Síochána is investigating an event that was held in Co. Galway on the 19th August, 2020 into alleged breaches of The Health Act 1947 (Section 31A-Temporary Restrictions) (COVID-19) (No.3) Regulations 2020, as amended.

As this is an active investigation An Garda Síochána has no further comment.

The Health Act 1947 (Section 31A-Temporary Restrictions) (COVID-19) (No.3) Regulations 2020 are currently in force until the 31st August, 2020.

An Garda Síochána is investigation inter alia breaches of Regulation 5 Restriction on Events "a person shall not organise, or cause to be organised”

Where potential breaches of the Public Health Regulations are identified a file is submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions for a direction as to how to proceed.

Public Health guidelines on Social distancing and management of events are not penal provisions.
