Court Appearance re Theft & Assault Ballyhaunis, 13th August, 2020.

Gardaí investigating the theft and assault that occurred at an Off Licence premises in Ballyhaunis on Thursday 13th August, 2020 have arrested two men.

Gardaí obtained a search warrant which was executed on Saturday morning 15th August, 2020 and two men (23 years and 20 years) were arrested in relation to the incident and taken to Castlebar Garda Station where they were detained under Section 4, Criminal Justice Act, 1984. A number of items sought on the warrant were also recovered during the search.

The 20 year old man has since been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The second man (23 years) was charged in relation to the incident and appeared before a special sitting of Carrick on Shannon District Court on Saturday evening 15th August, 2020. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear again before Castlebar District Court on Wednesday 19th August, 2020.
