Arrest & Court Appearance re Breaches of Covid 19 Legislation, 28th April, 2020

Gardaí in Ballymun have charged a man (18 years) after receiving directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to a number of alleged breaches of the Health (Preservation and Protection and other Emergency Measures in the Public Interest) Bill, 2020. The man was arrested in the Ballymun area yesterday evening (27/4/2020).

The charges relate to a number of incidents in which he had failed to comply with directions given by Gardaí under the legislation. In relation to all the incidents Gardaí did engage, educate, encourage and as a last resort enforce.

The man is also expected to be charged in connection with a seizure of suspected cocaine with a value of €5k in the Ballymun area on the 22nd April 2020.

He is due to be brought before a sitting of Dublin District Court (Criminal Courts of Justice No. 2) this morning, 28 April 2020.
