€38,000 Cannabis Seizure with Revenue Customs Service, Kilbarrack, Co. Dublin 15th April 2020

Gardaí have arrested a male, aged in his late 20s, and seized approximately €38,000 worth of cannabis herb during a joint search operation in the Kilbarrack area, Dublin 5.

On Wednesday, 15th April 2020, as part of ongoing investigations targeting Organised Crime Groups operating in the Kilbarrack area, Dublin 5, a joint intelligence-led operation was conducted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), the Clontarf Drugs Unit and Revenue Customs Service.

The operation resulted in the search of a house in the Kilbarrack area. During the course of this operation, a package which contained approximately 1.9kg of herbal cannabis (pending analysis) with an estimated value of €38,000 was seized by Customs officers.

The 29-year-old male was arrested at the scene and taken to Clontarf Garda Station where he was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act, 1996. He was later released without charge and file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
