Gardaí at Anglesea Street Appeal for information re Murder of male on Saturday 7th September 2019

Gardaí at Anglesea Street investigating the murder of a male in his 50s on Saturday 7th September 2019 are appealing to any persons who were in the Bandon Road area between 9.30pm and 10.30pm on Wednesday 4th September 2019 to come forward.

Gardaí are also appealing to any motorists travelling in the area at that time who may have Dashcam Footage.

Following the discovery of the body of a man in his 50s in a house on the Bandon Road, Cork on Saturday 7th September 2019, a female in her early 50s and a male in his early 40s have been arrested today Tuesday 10th September 2019 on suspicion of murder.

The female is being detained at Togher Garda Station while the male is being detained at Mayfield Garda Station. Both are detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. No further information is available at this time.

Gardaí are investigating all circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body of a man in his 50s in a house on the Bandon Rd, Cork City.

The man’s body was discovered by Gardaí shortly after 11.30am Saturday 7th September 2019.

The scene is currently being examined by members of the Divisional Scene of Crime Unit. The office of the State Pathologist has been notified and a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out tomorrow.

Enquires are ongoing and the course of the investigation will be determined by the outcome of the post-mortem.
