Gardaí investigating the fatal hit and run road traffic collision between a HGV and a male pedestrian that occurred on the Swords Road (N1), at the Collins Avenue Junction, on Friday 31st May, 2019 at approximately 12:20am have made an arrest.
A man (50s) was arrested this evening and is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4, Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Ballymun Garda Station.
The HGV articulated tractor unit has also been recovered.
A family liaison officer has been appointed.
Note: The deceased has been named as Gerard Whyte, from Ballymun, aged 21 years. His family have provided a photograph of Gerard and it is available by email to pressoffice@garda.iefor circulation.
