Appeal - Investigation into death of Infant Female (2 yrs) at Boreenamanna Road, Cork on the 5/5/19

The post mortem will take place this afternoon, 5/7/19, under Deputy State Pathologist Dr. Margot Bolster.

Gardaí are currently carrying out door to door enquiries in the Elderwood Apartment complex on Boreenmanna Road and the surrounding area.

Gardaí are appealing to any person who was in the Elderwood Apartment complex between 4pm yesterday 4/7/19 and 6am today 5/7/19, who has not already spoken to Gardaí to come forward. Gardaí at Anglesea Street, Cork are currently investigating all the circumstances of the death of an infant girl (2years) in Cork. 

Gardaí were called to an apartment on Boreenamanna Road, Cork City this morning Friday 5th July 2019 at approximately 5.18am. The infant girl was removed with serious injuries to Cork University Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. 

An Incident room has been established at Anglesea Street Garda Station. A technical examination of the apartment will be carried out this morning by Crime Scene Examiners from Cork City. The Office of the State Pathologist have been notified and a post mortem is being arranged. The results of a post mortem which will determine the course of the Garda investigation. No arrest have been made at this time.
