Update - Body of a woman discovered in Ardee, Louth on the 8/1/19

The body has been removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where a post mortem is scheduled to be commenced this morning by Dr Michael Curtis.

The male in his 30s who was arrested in relation to this death remains in custody in Drogheda Garda Station.

No further information available at this time.

Gardai investigating the discovery of the body of a woman in a house in Ardee this morning will hold a media briefing at 5pm today outside Ardee Garda Station.

Gardai have arrested a 32 year old male this afternoon in connection with this investigation. He was arrested in the Ardee area. He is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of The Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Drogheda Garda Station.

Gardaí in Co. Louth are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body of a woman at a house in Ardee.

The discovery was made by Gardaí shortly after 11.30am this morning (8/1/2019). The house has been sealed off and the Office of the State Pathologist has been notified. Investigating Gardaí have also requested assistance from the Garda Technical Bureau.

No arrests have been made to date and enquiries are ongoing.
