A man in his 50s arrested by Gardaí as part of this investigation was released without charge this evening (18/8/2019). A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The injured man is continuing to receive treatment at the Mater Hospital. (His condition is understood to be critical but stable.)

Gardaí in Mountjoy investigating the serious assault which occurred at Courtney Place, Ballybough, Dublin 3 in the early hours of this morning have made an arrest.
A man (50s) was arrested this afternoon and is currently detained at Mountjoy Garda Station under Section 4, Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The scene at Courtney Place remains preserved and investigations are ongoing.
