A 34 year old man arrested on Wednesday 28th August 2019 by Gardaí investigating the seizure of 4 firearms is due to appear before Carrickmacross District Court today, Friday 30th August 2019 at 3pm.
Shortly after 3pm on Wednesday 28th August, Gardaí from the Monaghan Roads Policing Unit in Carrickmacross stopped a car on the N2. During a search of the car, four firearms were recovered. The driver was arrested and detained under Section 30, Offences against the state act.

Gardaí have arrested one man and sized 4 firearms in Lisanisk, Carrickmacross Co. Monaghan today, Wednesday 29th August.
A Monaghan Roads Policing Unit carrying out speed checks on the N2 in Carrickmacross stopped a car. A road side drugs test was carried out on the Driver.
In a follow up search of the car, four (4) loaded pistols with ammunition were sized.
The Driver, a male (30s) was arrested in connection and is currently detained at Carrickmacross Garda Station under section 30 Offences against The State Act 1939. Investigations are ongoing.
