Update - Search and Arrest Operation in Louth on the 10/4/19

Gardaí have arrested a third man, sought in connection with an ongoing investigation by An Garda Síochána in the Louth Division in response to the issue of drug related intimidation behaviour in the Drogheda and Mid Louth areas.

The male in his 20s was arrested today, 11th April 2019, in Drogheda and is currently detained in Drogheda Garda station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

As part of the ongoing investigation by An Garda Síochána in the Louth Division in response to the issue of drug related intimidation behaviour in the Drogheda and Mid Louth areas, an extensive search and arrest operation took place early this morning, 10/04/19, in the Drogheda area.

This morning’s operation involved members of the Louth Divisional Detective and Operational Uniform Units, supported by One Unit of the Emergency Response Unit and two units of the Regional Armed Support Units, in addition to the Garda Dog Unit.

A total of four residential properties were searched and as a result:

• Two men, aged in their 20s, were arrested and are currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Drogheda and Dundalk Garda Stations
• One Vehicle has been seized for examination
• Recovery of a quantity of suspected cannabis and cocaine with an approximate value of €5000
• A quantity of mobile phones were also seized
