Robbery in Ballybay, Monaghan on the 24/3/18 - male charged

Gardai in Carrickmacross in Co. Monaghan have charged a 25 year old male in connection with a robbery on a premises on the Castleblaney road, Ballybay on the 24th March 2018.

At approximately 9.05pm on the 24th March 2018, two males entered a shop in Ballybay Co Monaghan, they threatened staff and demanded cash from staff. One male was carrying a hammer and the other an axe. The suspects forced open the till and took a sum of cash. They both fled to a navy car that was parked on the forecourt, this was being driven by a third person.

A male (25 years) was arrested in the Castleblaney area this morning and detained at Carrickmacross Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended. He was charged and will appear at a special sitting of Monaghan District Ct at 7.30pm this evening the 9th September 2018.
