Update - Barricade Incident at St. Mark's Drive, Clondalkin, Dublin on the 17/10/18

Superintendent Paul Dolan who is in charge of policing in Lucan District today said, "Gardaí were tasked with and managed an armed barricade incident which occurred on 17th October, 2018 at St. Marks Drive, Clondalkin, Dublin 22. A full scale policing operation was implemented which caused significant disruption to the local residents.

"As Superintendent with responsibility for the area I wish to acknowledge to convey my gratitude for the assistance received:

• To the local residents for their patience displayed throughout the day at roadblocks, for their cups of tea and coffee to Gardai deployed on long tours of duty and for their friendliness throughout the incident

• To the Media for their understanding of the sensitive nature of the incident and facilitating a media blackout for the duration.

As Superintendent in charge of the Lucan District, I am very appreciative of the assistance provided by those mentioned above which ensured that Gardai were able to bring this incident to a safe conclusion. A firearm and ammunition was recovered at the scene. A male was arrested and is currently detained in Lucan. This man is receiving appropriate medical attention."
