Court Appearance - Murder of Aidan O’Driscoll Blackpool Cork 7th December 2016

Two males, 24 and 32 years old, are scheduled to appear before The Special Criminal Court, CCJ, Dublin this morning charged in connection with the murder of Aidan O’Driscoll in Blackpool, Cork on the 7th December 2016. Both males were arrested this morning in the Cork area.

Gardaí are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at Great William O’Brien Street, Blackpool, Cork this evening, Wednesday 7th December 2016 at approximately 5pm. One man, aged in his late 30’s, suffered apparent gunshot wounds.
 
The injured man received medical assistance at the scene. He was taken to Cork University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. A post mortem is to be arranged.
 
The scene at Great William O’Brien Street is preserved. Gardaí have located two partially burnt out vehicles, at Redemption Road, Blackpool and at Killeens, County Cork. These scenes have also been preserved for technical examination.
 
No other injuries have been reported. No arrests have been made.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information, particularly those who may have been in the vicinity of Great William O’Brien Street and or The Church of the Annunciation, Blackpool this afternoon between the hours of 3.30pm and 5.30pm to contact them at Mayfield Garda Station on 021 4558510, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
