Joint Intelligence led Operation by Revenue's Custom and An Garda Síochána on the 13/6/18.

As part of an ongoing joint investigations targeting the illegal importation of firearms into the country, a Joint Intelligence led Operation was conducted by the Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau, and The Special Crime Task Force, this morning 13th June, at a residential address in Alderwood, Tallaght, Dublin 24.

A package was seized by Customs, which contained a consignment of Stun Guns which had been imported from the Netherlands. A 24 year old male was arrested as part of the operation by Gardaí from the Special Crime Task Force. He was brought to Tallaght Garda Station where he was detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act. He has since been released pending the submission of an investigation file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Stun guns are a prohibited weapon under the Firearms Act 1925, as amended by the Criminal Justice Act 2006, except under licence.
