Witness Appeal - Road Traffic Incident on Macken Street, Dublin on the 9/4/18

On the 9/4/18, a 04 KE registered Volvo XC90 Jeep, silver in colour, was involved in a number of Road Traffic incidents around the Macken Street, Grand Canal Street area.

This vehicle was missing its rear licence plate. The vehicle was in the area above at around 10.41am. During a traffic stop, a member of the Garda Siochana was dragged by this vehicle, causing him injury.

The vehicle left Macken Street, travelled onto Grand Canal Street, then turned right and travelled along the Grand Canal until it turned left over Baggot Street Bridge. It then turned right onto Waterloo Road, where the two occupants alighted and were later arrested and detained at Irishtown Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act where they remain in custody.

A number of witnesses have contacted Gardaí already, however persons who were on Macken Street, and who witnessed the incident, and tended to the injured Garda are still sought. In addition, investigators are asking any member of the public who may have phone/ dashcam/ CCTV footage of this incident to contacts Gardaí.
