Operation Thor- Two days of Action Ashbourne District 24th/25th March

This morning, 24th March 2017, at 8am Gardaí began an Operation Thor two days of Action in Ashbourne District. Operation Thor is a multi strand national anti-crime strategy. This is the 10th such operation in the Eastern Region since September 2016.

The days of action are  high visibility policing operations whose main focus is to prevent and detect high volume crimes (burglaries and thefts) committed throughout the Ashbourne District. The operation will focus in particular on intelligence gathering, warrant executions, searches, arrests, crime detection and crime prevention. The other strands of the operation are community partnership, education and awareness, and victim support.

The objective of the operation is to disrupt criminal’s living in and travelling through Ashbourne District. This operation will also assist in the detection of criminal offences through proactive policing activities.

The Operation carried out by Gardaí from Ashbourne District, is supported by National and Regional Units including the Regional Support Unit, the Garda Air Support Unit; as well at officials from Revenue's Customs Service; the Taxi Regulator and the Private Security Authority.
