Drugs and Firearms Seizure Co Meath Update 17th March 2017

A 23 year old man arrested as part of a planned operation in Pelletstown, Dunshaughlin, Co Meath on the 14th March 2017 (Press Release 262/17 refers) appeared before the Criminal Courts of Justice , Parkgate Street, Dublin 8 yesterday evening charged in connection with this investigation. The 35 year old man arrested was released yesterday. A file will now be prepared for the information of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Investigations are continuing.

   

Gardai have seized controlled drugs, a firearm and arrested two males following a planned operation this morning at a location in Pelletstown, Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath.

Gardai from the Special Crime Task Force, in collaboration with specialised units from the Dublin Region, Armed Support Unit and Gardai from the Meath Division carried out an intelligence led operation targeting Organised Crime.

During the course of a search, controlled drugs (Heroin and Crack Cocaine) with an estimated street value €60,000 (pending analysis), were recovered along with approximately €50,000 in cash. A sub machine gun (subject to technical examination) was also recovered.

Two males, 35 years and 23 years of age, have been arrested and are currently detained at Blanchardstown and Finglas Garda stations under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.  .

The location of this find is currently preserved and further searches will be carried out in the morning 15th March 2017
