Witness appeal - Fatal road traffic collision at Arklow, Wicklow on the 5/6/17

Gardaí at Arklow Garda Station are renewing their appeal in relation to a fatal road traffic collision.

The collision occurred on the Coolgreany Road in Arklow, Co. Wicklow at approximately 2.20a.m on Monday 5th June 2017.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the Coolgreaney Road, Ballyduff Road (also known as Johnstown Road) area of Arklow between the hours of 1.30 am and 2.30 am on to contact them.

Speaking at Arklow Garda Station, Inspector Ronan Lawlor said 'This collision occurred on a wet night in the earlier hours of a bank holiday Monday. We would like to speak to anyone who was near Coolgreaney Road in the vicinity of St. Saviours Church, Ballyraine Bridge or Ballyduff Road which is the M11 underpass.

We would particularly like to speak to anyone who may have a dash cam on their vehicle'   Anyone who may have information is asked to contact Arklow Garda Station on 040-226320, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Gardaí are investigating a fatal traffic collision which happened on the Coolgreany Road in Arklow, Co.Wicklow at about 2.20a.m. on Monday 5th June 2017.

A pedestrian, a man believed to be in his 40s, was fatally injured when he was struck by a car. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to St. Columcille's Hospital, Loughlinstown, where a post mortem examination will be carried out. The driver of the car was not injured.

The road at the scene of the crash is closed pending an examination of the area by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
