As part Operation Thor, Gardaí from Roxboro Road, Henry Street and Newcastlewest districts targeting an Organised Criminal Gang, believed to be responsible for a number of Burglaries and Unauthorised Taking incidents in Limerick City and County in recent weeks have made arrests and seized property.

On the evening of the 31st August 2016, Gardaí from Roxboro Road arrested a 27 year old male, found to be driving a vehicle (141-reg BMW), which was one of two vehicles stolen overnight in a Burglary in the Castletroy area of the city. The other vehicle (141-reg VW) was recovered in a follow-up search. As part of this investigation, Gardaí also recovered a 141-reg Nissan Quashqai, stolen in a separate Burglary in the southside of the city and two laptops.
In a follow up planned operation this morning, four males aged between 17 and 20 years were also arrested  in relation to this investigation.
All 5 males are currently detained at various stations in Limerick city and county pursuant to Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007. This investigation is ongoing.
