Further Update - Intelligence Led Operation in Dublin relating to serious organised crime on the 14/9/16 - Arrest in Spain for Gary Hutch murder

A male arrested yesterday (14th Sept) by the Guardia Civil in Spain as part of the investigation into the murder of Gary Hutch has appeared in court in Fuengirola, Spain this morning the 15th September and was further remanded in custody for the further investigation of the offences.

The investigation by the Guardia Civil is at an early stage and is under the control of a Judge. 
 
Note: There  is no Garda spokesperson being put forward for comment. The court proceedings this morning were not in public.

At approximately 6.30am this morning Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, accompanied by staff from the Criminal Assets Bureau, commenced an intelligence-led operation relating to serious organised crime in the Dublin Region.

Gardaí are currently executing a number of search warrants at various locations in Dublin City and County with a view to gathering evidence that would support a prosecution against individuals engaged in serious organised crime. This operation is the culmination of significant investigative activity to date and is supported by other law enforcement agencies including La Guardia Civil who are assisting in today's activity.

Further details on this operation will be released later this morning when the searches have been completed.

A Garda spokesman will be available for comment in the DMR Office, Harcourt Square at 12noon.
