Gardaí in Listowel are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the R557 Road - Finuge to Abbeydorney Road at Bealkilla, Lixnaw at approximately 22.40 hours on Wednesday night 7th September 2016.
A male pedestrian (early 60s) was struck by a lorry and taken to University Hospital Kerry and passed away in the early hours of this morning, Thursday, 8th September, 2016. The lorry driver was uninjured.
The road was closed and Forensic Collision Investigators attended at the scene. The road has since been re-opened.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who may have driven on the road last night, to contact Listowel Garda Station, the Garda Confidential Line 1 800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
