Fatal road traffic collision at Ballybofey, Donegal on the 21/9/16

Gardaí are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the R252, Glenfin Road, Ballybofey, Co Donegal this afternoon, Wednesday 21st September 2016 at approximately 4.15pm.

Two women, aged 19 and 38 years, were fatally injured when the car they were travelling in left the road, collided with a pole and came to a stop in a parking area for trucks. One of the women, 19 years, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second woman, 38 years, was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. A male, 40’s, travelling in the car, suffered non life threatening injuries and was also taken to Letterkenny University Hospital. No other injuries were reported.

The scene has been preserved. The road is currently closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions are in place.
