Drug seizure and arrest at Ashford, Wicklow on the 8/9/16

Gardaí in Wicklow were conducting a routine speed checkpoint on the M11 at Ashford yesterday evening, Thursday 8th September, 2016 when they stopped a black ford focus car.

During the course of the incident, the vehicle was seized under Section 41 of Road Traffic Act and subsequently searched and three large bags of Cannabis Herb was discovered. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is €60,000 (subject to analysis).

One man (late 40s) was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 2 of Drug Trafficking Act at Wicklow Garda Station.
