Appeal for Information following serious assault on O'Connell Street, Dublin 1 on the 9/9/16

Gardaí at Store Street are seeking the public’s assistance as part of their investigation into a serious assault which occurred at O’Connell Street, Dublin 1 at 11:40pm on Friday the 9th September 2016.

The assault occurred when four people visiting the city were attacked by a group of male and female youths resulting in a serious eye injury to one of the injured parties.

Gardaí believe the injured party was initially the victim of a theft in Temple Bar at 9.30pm the same evening. Associates of the victim later recovered their friends property and seized it from a group of youths on Crown Alley. The injured party was later re-united with his property and friends and the group proceeded to make their way from the south-side to the north-side of the city.
 
The group of youths pursued the victim and his friends onto O’Connell Street and a number of altercations took place prior to victim and his friends being assaulted on the west side of Upper O’Connell Street. Those involved are also suspected of having assaulted other members of the public.
