Witness Appeal/Media Briefing following discovery of man's body at Brittas on the 1/10/16

Gardaí at Tallaght are appealing for witnesses following the discovery of the body of a man, aged in his 60s, close to a forest track on Ballinascorney Hill, near the Ballinascorney Road Upper, Brittas on the 30th September 2016.

The man had been reported missing from the area on the 29th September 2016

Gardaí are conducting a murder investigation following a post mortem at Tallaght Hospital and the services of the State Pathologist had been sought. Gardaí are conducting a witness appeal near the scene today at 3pm.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the general area of Ballinascorney Hill, or Ballinascorney Road Upper between 6.30am on the 29th and 4am on the 30th Of September to contact the incident room at Tallaght Garda station on 01-666000 or the Garda Confidential 1800-666-111. No further information at this time.

Note:

Due to the remoteness of the area members of the media are advised there will be a patrol car on the Ballinascorney Road Upper at 2.50pm. Members of the media are advised to meet at the patrol car where they will be guided closer to the scene for a witness appeal/media briefing conducted by Supt Peter Duff from Tallaght at 3pm.
