Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding a road traffic incident that occurred in County Galway at the Barna Road / Moycullen Road junction this morning, Sunday 20th November 2016 at approximately 2.20am.
Two woman, early 20's, were discovered seriously injured on the roadside. They both received medical assistance at the scene and were taken to University Hospital Galway. One of the women was later pronounced dead. A post mortem is to be arranged. The second woman remains in a stable condition.
The scene has been preserved for technical examination and to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
No arrests have been made. Investigations are on-going.
