Two people arrested - Seizure of heroin with an street value of €240,000 on the 24/5/16

As part of an on going operation by the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau into the sale and supply of controlled substances, a car was stopped just off Sandymount Road, Dundrum today the 24th May 2016.

The car was searched by Gardaí and approximately one kilo of heroin (pending analysis) with a street value of €140,000 was discovered. A male (32 years) and a female (17 years) who were in the car were arrested and taken to Blackrock Garda station where they were detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 as amended.

During a follow up search of a house at Ballyogan Green, Carrickmines another kilo of heroin (pending analysis) with a street value of €140,000 was discovered.

The female has since been released, with a file being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions, the male remains in custody.
