Man charged - discharge of firearm incident in Cork City on the 15/5/16

Gardaí have charged a man, 29 years, in connection with the investigation into an incident where a firearm was discharged at Hollwell Estate, Cork City on Sunday morning, 15th May 2016 shortly after 1am.

He is due to appear before Cork District Court 1, this morning, Wednesday 18th May 2016 at 10.30am.

The man was arrested on Sunday morning and was detained at Gurranabraher Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939-’98 as amended. He remains in Garda custody.

Gardaí also arrested a woman and a second man, aged 22 years and late 60’s respectively, in connection with this investigation. Both were released from Garda custody without charge. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A woman, 21 years, was injured during the incident and was taken to Cork University Hospital with non life threatening injuries.
