Male charged - Seizure of heroin with an street value of €240,000 on the 24/5/16

Gardaí from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau have charged a male (32 years) in connection with the seizure of heroin (pending analysis) in Dundrum on the 24th May 2016.

He will appear before Dun Laoghaire District Court today the 25th May at 10.30am.

As part of an on going operation by the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau into the sale and supply of controlled substances, a car was stopped just off Sandymount Road, Dundrum today the 24th May 2016.

The car was searched by Gardaí and approximately one kilo of heroin (pending analysis) with a street value of €140,000 was discovered. A male (32 years) and a female (17 years) who were in the car were arrested and taken to Blackrock Garda station where they were detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 as amended.

During a follow up search of a house at Ballyogan Green, Carrickmines another kilo of heroin (pending analysis) with a street value of €140,000 was discovered.

The female has since been released, with a file being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions, the male remains in custody.
