Fatal Traffic Collision near Thurles, Tipperary on the 13/5/16

Gardaí in Thurles are appealing for witnesses to a fatal traffic collision in Co. Tipperary on the 13th May 2016.

At approximately 11.30am a 78-year-old male was fatally injured when the car he was driving left the roadway and struck concrete pier on a local road at Gortnahoe near Thurles. The man was treated at the scene by emergency services but died a short time later. His body was removed to University Hospital Waterford for a post-mortem examination. He was the sole occupant of the car.

The road is closed and local diversions are in place. Garda forensic collision investigators are at the scene. The coroner has been notified.
