The two men have been detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Newbridge and Kildare Garda stations.
As part of on-going intelligence-led operations targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Kildare area, Gardaí in the Athy, Newbridge and assisted by the Regional Support Unit arrested two males (47 & 38 yrs) for possession of Cannabis & Heroin (pending analysis) with an estimated value of €40,000 at a house in Athy Co Kildare at appox 12 midnight on 12/05/16.
These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
