Drug seizure and arrest in Mullingar, Westmeath on the 11/5/16

As part of on-going intelligence-led operations targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Westmeath area Gardai have seized heroin and arrested one male.

At approximately 7.30pm last night Gardai from the Westmeath Divisional Drug Unit stopped a car near Kinnegad, Co. Westmeath. The 35 year old male driver, who was the sole occupant, was arrested and conveyed to Mullingar Garda Station. Heroin (pending analysis) with an estimated street value of up to €45,000 was seized.

The 35 year old male is currently detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking Act) 1996 at Mullingar Garda Station.
