Appeal in to the abduction and disappearance of Charles Brooke Pickard, White Strand, Castlecove, Kerry on 26/4/91

Gardaí at Killarney are appealing for assistance from the public in their investigation into the abduction and disappearance of Charles Brooke Pickard from White Strand at Castlecove, Co. Kerry on 26th of April 1991.

On Friday 26th April 1991, Charles Brooke Pickard was abducted and driven away in his van by a number of males from the White Strand at Castlecove, Co. Kerry and has not been seen since.

On the 16th May 1991, his van, a navy Ford Transit van was found burned out in Shronaloughnane Forest, in the town land of Derrennageeha near Waterville, Co. Kerry, 27 miles from where he was abducted. 

As part of this investigation, the abduction of Charles Brooke Pickard is to be featured on the forthcoming edition of Crime Call which will be transmitted on Monday 30th May 2016 at 9.35pm on RTE 1. 

Gardaí are appealing for any information from members of the public which they may have in relation to this matter. 

Superintendent Flor Murphy speaking at Killarney Garda station today said:

"It is over twenty five years since Charles Brooke Pickard was last seen being bundled into his van near Castlecove, Co Kerry. He was 43 years of age at the time and his wife Penny and four young children were left behind. Sadly his daughter Lisa,  died three years later in a road traffic accident.”

Superintendent Murphy continued

"I genuinely believe that members of the public have information in relation to the abduction and disappearance of Charles Brooke Pickard and I would appeal for these individuals to come forward.”

Some people may not have been in a position to assist the investigation twenty five years ago but with the passage of time they may be able to help us now. Relationships, friendships and loyalties may have changed and people may be in a better position to help us now.

Superintendent Flor Murphy stressed the following:

"I am appealing for these people to come forward and talk to us and they will be treated with the utmost sensitivity. "

We want to progress our investigations into this incident but we also want to bring some sort of closure for his wife Penny and family".
