Fatal road traffic collision near Cloonfad, Mayo on the 24/3/16

Gardaí from Claremorris are appealing for witnesses to a single vehicle fatal traffic collision.

At approximately 8am a 35-year-old male died when his car left the road on the R327 near Cloonfad and entered the Dalgan River. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has since been removed to Mayo University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

A technical examination of the scene has been carried out by Garda forensic collision investigators and the local Coroner has been notified.

The road remains closed to traffic and local diversions are in place.
