Seizure of controlled substance in Limerick on the 1/2/16

On the 1st February, 2016, as part of an intelligence led joint operation between Officers of the Revenue Commissioners South West Region, the Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau the Regulatory Products Research Authority and the Limerick Drugs Unit, approx. 10,500 Benzodiazepine tablets were seized at an address in Kileely, Limerick.

The tablets which had been sent from Austria have been seized by Customs. The tablets have an estimated street value in the region of €21,000. A 59 year old male was arrested by Gardai and detained at Henry  Street  Garda Station, under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

 
The male was released yesterday the 2nd February without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions and investigations are on going.
